This exact time last year, myself and Lawrence drove over to France and camped in various places around the country. This year, we decided we wanted to visit in France again, but this time stay in the same place, as driving around the whole of France in just two weeks got a little bit tiring.

It didn’t take much thought that we wanted to visit Brittany again, and the first place that came to our minds was Saint-Malo. It was one of our favourite towns we visited last year and stuck in our minds when we first started thinking about France again.

After a nightmare journey to actually get to the Eurotunnel (in England!) we eventually arrived in Calais and then drove a 5 hour drive down to Saint-Malo to our campsite, Camping Castle Galinée. This campsite came up with really good reviews online, so we were really excited to get there and look around. We weren’t disappointed as the grounds were beautiful, with lots of amenities, a shop, restaurant, pool etc. We popped up our little tent on our HUGE pitch and made ourselves right at home.

A Mini Guide: The Amalfi Coast

A Mini Guide: The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast has always been high on my list of places to visit and after searching some dreamy holiday destinations, myself and Lawrence decided on Italy. Positano seems to be all over Instagram at the moment, and after searching the surrounding towns around it, it seemed like the perfect destination for a week break.

We stayed in the town of Sorrento, in Grande Hotel Parco Del Sole, which was a 20-minute walk or a quick shuttle bus into the centre of Sorrento. The hotel grounds were beautiful, with a giant fountain on the drive way, it made it feel really special. We had plans to have day trips to the other towns and Islands surrounding Sorrento. With a tight schedule, we decided to visit Capri, Positano, Pompeii and Naples. There is a vast amount of public transport to the surrounding towns, but I would definitely recommend the ferries, the buses seem to get very busy and are hard to find your way back to the bus stop after a day of exploring. When you get off the ferry, it is easier to find your way back to the port, and the experience is also a lot better.

I am going to break down each town visited and the restaurants we ate at in each town. For myself and Lawrence, we always look forward to the food the most!

Let's pick up where we last left off. From Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré we then travelled to a small port, a place where I was so excited to go because it is of course, the French version of my name, La Rochelle. La Rochelle is a place I wished we had more time to spend in, but with such a packed schedule and wanting to get to our next campsite before it went dark to get our tent up, we made the most of our morning here.

In August, myself and my boyfriend, Lawrence took off and drove down south to catch the Eurotunnel over to France. We had the whole trip planned out for months and felt like this trip was greatly anticipated and defiantly needed. We went to numerous towns and cities around France and loved soaking up the culture and the sun!

The Eurotunnel was nothing like I expected. With long delays expected due to extra security checks, it was surprising how quickly we got through customs and loaded on to the train. The train was HUGE. I always thought you parked your car up and left your vehcile and sat in a carriage like a normal train. But it was nothing like that, you drive on, stay in your car, and drive off. I only just nodded off when we arrived in France, it took a whole 30 minutes! Crazy! It has been the easiest way of traveling abroad, but the only thing I missed was the duty free shops as it is routine to spray yourself with expensive perfumes and try on sun glasses. There is a duty free at the tunnel terminal, but we just went straight on to the train.

We arrived in Calais in which we drove to Rouen, a small town in Normandy. We had a walk around, a coffee and shared a hanging kebab and the weather was scorching! The architecture around Rouen was beautiful. The detail in the buildings and the time it must have taken to complete amazed me.
