The town of La Rochelle was beautiful and authentic, we had croissants and coffee over-looking the port and then went for stroll around the town, I may have got distracted in to a Zara on our way around too. (Oops!)
Every monument or pretty building always seems to have scaffolding or work going on with it. Does anyone else always encounter scaffolding wherever they travel to?! We stayed at a quiet, beautiful campsite called Camping Flower Lac De Thoux St-Cricq, that overlooked the lake. This was one of our favourite campsites that we stayed at, but the only downside was that there was not much around in walking distance to see or do. On the way to the campsite, we drove past around 10 miles of sunflower fields, which I now really regret not getting a picture of.
Waking up overlooking the lake was such a special feeling. I watched the morning mist rise off the lake and the sun rise and it was a surreal moment of how lucky I was to be on such an amazing trip.
We set off from our campsite bright and early to pack in as many towns to visit as we headed towards the south of France. Our first stop on our long drive to the anticipated Avignon was Beziers. A vintage, cultural town in the south of France, widely known for the annual bullfighting festival, in which we saw the square in which they hold the shows. We explored the windy little streets and stopped for a drink. The atmosphere of this little town was so relaxing and felt as though I could have spent the whole day there.
On to the South of France we go! Until next time.
